The Rubber Industry makes extensive use of Taconic Coated Products. The inherent properties of PTFE-Glass, PTFE-Kevlar, PTFE-Nomex, Silicone Glass Fabric Tapes and Conveyor Belts have received recognition in this industry for the help they offer to the improved handling transport and flow of materials in the industry. Taconic PTFE-Glass in particular is required in rubber processing because of its outstanding Chemical, Thermal, Mechanical and Electrical properties.
- Smooth, non-stick surface
- Temperature resistance [-200°C to +260°C]
- Chemical resistance
- Electrical insulation Class H [180°C]
- Porosity [as desired]
- Open Weave
- Fabric Impression as required
- Semi-Conductive surface as required
- Durability and mechanical strength
Taconic PTFE-Glass Fabrics are used as release sheets on belt vulcanizers. The PTFE-Glass fabric is laid down over the rubber sheets and heat is applied under pressure. The PTFE-Glass fabric acts as release and thermal transfer medium between the heating platens and the rubber. The smooth, non-stick surface serves to prevents the rubber from sticking to the platen. Thermal transfer is facilitated allowing the rubber to cure under pressure. The Taconic PTFE-Glass product required depends on the process, the product being fabricated if smooth finish or imprint of glass fibre mesh is required.
Taconic Series Nos. 7108, 7109, 7100, 7148, 7159, 7207 [imprint transfer], 7278, 7273AS, 7103AS, 7143AS.
Taconic PTFE-Glass Fabric is used as release blankets on flat rubber moulding process. The rubber is pressed between PTFE-Glass sheet and machined plate. The impression of the fibre glass reinforcement of the PTFE-Glass fabric prevents the rubber from sticking to the temperature platen. The fabric impression enhances the appearance of the product - end use as a surface for indoor tennis courts.
Taconic Series Nos. 7278, 7273AS, 7276.
Taconic PTFE-Glass Conveyors used in the fabrication of foam sponge rubber sheeting. Two PTFE-Glass conveyors support a layer of foam rubber sheet through a heating process. PTFE-Glass conveyors are compressed together by heated platens and pressure. The cured foam rubber sheet is peeled from the non-stick PTFE-Glass surfaces.
Taconic PTFE-Glass Conveyor Belts are used extensively to apply synthetic rubber backing to carpeting. Taconic PTFE-Glass Conveyor conveys the uncured synthetic rubber backing deposited on the PTFE-Glass surface through a manufacturing process for fabrication of rubber backed fibre carpet floor-covering. The woven fibre overlay is brought in contact with the uncured synthetic rubber underlay, bonding takes place as the conveyor runs through a curing chamber. The non-stick PTFE Glass surface imparts an imprint of the glass fibre mesh to the finished product.
